Tales from a Goa vacation.

"Guys! Let's plan a Goa trip..." - is a sentence uttered by countless college students in India all the time, with so little success in the trip actually happening, it has almost become a meme.
After being sent home following the 2nd wave of the Covid-19 pandemic (sigh), and the subsequent signs of it fading away presented a golden opportunity to actually realize a Goa batch-trip.

As it happened, 11 of us from all over the country assembled in Goa to fulfill the prophecy. What ensued over the course of 5-ish days from November 10th to November 14th of the year 2021, was absolute chaos and brought out a lifetime of memories.

Planning for a 5-days-4-nights vacation did ruffle some feathers in the group-chat. But after much deliberation and disputes, we achieved a general agreement on the activities to do and the places to visit.

5 of us took a railway route from Bangalore to arrive at an unearthly hour of 5 am in Goa. In fact it was so early that the place to stay wasn't even available to check-in until 4-5 hours later. Despite that, we dumped our luggage in the cloak room and sorted out our transportation for the next few days - a Mahindra Thar and a Suzuki Ertiga.

With the others arriving not before the afternoon of that day, the 5 of us had almost half a day to ourselves. Before claiming the villa for our stay, we went to The Artjuna Cafe. The Cafe is based in a Portuguese house surrounded by a beautiful garden, this cafe and lifestyle shop is truly worth a visit; whether you come for great food or special gifts.

After getting the villa, we paid a visit to the Fort Aguada, and basked our afternoon in the glory of a national monument.

In the meantime, the second wave of people arrived in Goa and caught up with us at the villa. The plan was to visit the Anjuna beach and spend the evening there at Purple Martini, with 2 more people to complete the group.
We arrived at Anjuna beach through a small trail through the beach-side shacks and the beach opening up for our eyes like a movie scene.
That evening at Purple Martini was like a blur. Being with everyone after months of isolation, the group spirit was so high, one can only wish to experience such times again in their life.

We had planned to spend the night at the Curlies night club, but for some reason it was a fail. This remained a theme throughout the next 4 days, where it was very rare for a plan to actually go through.

The next morning we took a dip in the swimming pool accompanying our villa to blow-off some heat and get over the previous hazy night, which involved us ending up on a beach at 3 am.

Freshened up, we paid a visit to The Mustard Cafe - a French-Bengali fusion cuisine place. Like the name suggests, the delicacies there were laced with mustard flavor up and down.
Safe to say it wasn't everyone's cup of tea and we had to have some chilled wine to wash down the mustard, which resulted in some rather funny photo opportunities.

Calangute beach, was the destination for the evening where we were greeted with the most beautiful lush pink sky. It was as if the sky garden had blossomed that evening giving us a visual treat.
